Locations: Cornerstone Foundation Soup Kitchen, South Park Inn, Saint Elizabeth House & Friendship Center

During the week leading up to the event, we were very blessed to have communicated with the Lions Club of Simsbury represented by Mona and were given a variety of full-size item donations. We were really grateful and surprised with the items we received, and now we are organizing and seeing how we can share these items given to us. We look forward to continuing working/partnering with them on many events and future activities.  

Day Before the Event:  

On Friday we gathered up at Dunkin in Vernon, to gather the donations.  With having done this every week, a system was finally developed but lots of laughs were shared so these donuts are donated with a little extra love and happiness this week.  With that being said, we packed up and individually wrapped all the donuts up, loaded them into trays, and had some much-needed team bonding.  We have learned that mental health is always an important factor that lets our team continue to function so please, whether it’s sitting outside for a few minutes and letting your mind go blank or taking a sick day; take care of yourself.  

Day of the Event:

Saturday Morning we headed out to make our rounds.  The first stop was to the Cornerstone Foundation Soup Kitchen; we were able to get to see a quick glimpse of how the Cornerstone foundation runs its soup kitchen and can’t wait to work with them more often and volunteer in the soup kitchen.  From there it was to the South Park Inn in Hartford next, and then the Saint Elizabeth House & Friendship Center.  We also had the pleasure of having a possible future volunteer, Sheila, join us while we were out doing the shelter run.
