04/17/21 Shelter Run

Locations: Cornerstone Foundation Soup kitchen, South Park Inn, Saint Elizabeth House & Friendship Center

Day Before the Event:

We started on Friday evening 04/16/2021 by going to Dunkin Donuts in Vernon CT. Ashlei, Katie, and myself, Abigail, were all able to participate. We packed up donuts, bagels, muffins, and croissants.  This week we were able to get 575 items, which consisted of 255 mixes of donuts, bagels, muffins, and croissants as well as 32 separated munchkin bags that had a count of 8 munchkins per bag.

There was a wonderful amount available this week. This enabled us to have three and a half trays for each location. We were very excited as for the last two to three weeks we were only able to bring 2 strays of sorted sweet treats.

Day of the Event:

For this day we decided to carpool, Ashlei and myself, met up at 10:30 am and headed over to our regular first stop which is the Cornerstone Foundation Soup Kitchen. At this stop, we almost forgot to hand them one extra item we received and had a little laugh at how fast we had to react. As this was fixed we headed over to the South Park Inn and were able to go in to deliver the trays with the sweet treats. Once we said our greetings and spoke to the personnel that was present we headed on over to the Saint Elizabeth’s House and Friendship Center. As we were unloading our items we met with another lady that was also leaving donations. It was great to interact with someone who also donates to this shelter. We were very happy about that brief interaction.

Our next shelter run event is on 04/24/21! Can’t wait to see what we are able to share in this event.

As always a friendly reminder to stay safe. Stay H.O.P.E.F.U.L!
